ADACHI ICHIBA where I’ll introduce today is the central wholesale market for only special marine products in Tokyo. I’ll introduce the a little bit different atmosphere of the market from the foreign country.
When you enter the market, you can see an intermediate wholesaler area and a sale of products area in front of you. There are no less people or foreign tourists so you might find this place a real market.
There are various fresh fish which are caught on the day in each area like the photo above. I found fish which were alive among them.
I found expensive fish which usually you seldom see at a grocery store. By the way, the fish in the photo above is ‘Hata’ which white meat is so delicious and you can eat only at exclusive restaurant because it is too rare fish. It might be one of the merits that ordinary people can buy fish like this.
In the market, there was less people so I could watch ‘Magro (tuna fish)- cut’ all the time like the photo above carefully. It was powerful and I was so surprised that the staff that was cutting Maguro had a very great technique as a veteran.
When you visit early in the morning, you can watch the auction sale like the photo above. You might not have an experience to watch such a situation in the foreign countries, so why don’t you visit there? You can experience to see ‘Magro (tuna fish)- cut’from 5:30 in the morning.
I ate a seafood bowl at a restaurant in the market on the way to home. It has a lot of fresh fish and delicious indeed.
What about ADACHI ICHIBA? TSUKIJI ICHIBA is so famous in Tokyo but ADACHI ICHIBA is unknown for a sightseeing spot so if you go there you must be able to experience REAL Japanese-like atmosphere. Why don’t you visit there if you are interested in?
